PLEASURE IS INTELLIGENCE
Human Flourishing in a Hyperconnected World
What if pleasure isn't indulgence, but intelligence?
In a culture increasingly shaped by distraction, optimisation and digital acceleration, Rani Sheilagh explores why pleasure, attention and meaningful human connection aren't frivolous extras. They are fundamental to how we live and work well.
Drawing on cyberpsychology, research, food culture, wellness and lived experience, Rani invites audiences to rethink our relationship with technology, productivity and wellbeing, and to consider what genuinely helps human beings flourish.
Audiences will explore:
A fresh perspective on pleasure as part of human flourishing
Greater awareness of how attention shapes everyday experience
A deeper understanding of technology, behaviour and connection
Practical ways to cultivate greater presence and meaningful connection
A provocative question: Are we designing our lives around what matters, or simply around what demands our attention?
WHY BOOK RANI?

When Nobody Wanted to Leave
One of the most meaningful compliments I have ever received was not spoken.
It happened when nobody wanted to leave.
Although the evening celebrated the launch of Live Life Yummie, I designed it to be much more than a book launch. My intention was to create an experience centred around food, conversation, connection and community.
Long after the formal part of the evening had ended, people stayed.
They gathered around tables. They met new people. They exchanged stories and ideas. Conversations flowed naturally and the room remained full of warmth, curiosity and connection.
As a cyberpsychologist, I was fascinated by what was unfolding.
As someone who has spent years creating experiences, communities and conversations, I recognised something else.
When people feel welcome, present and connected, they do not rush for the exit.
They stay.
That simple idea continues to inspire much of my work today.
Whether through keynote talks, facilitated conversations or Yummietarian™ experiences, I create experiences that encourage people to slow down, engage more deeply and connect more meaningfully with one another.
The video captures a glimpse of that evening.
BEYOND THE STAGE
Rani's work can also take more intimate and participatory forms, from author conversations and facilitated gatherings to selected Live Life Yummie experiences bringing together food, pleasure, ritual and human connection.
These can be created for cultural organisations, hospitality partners, festivals, companies and communities, bringing the ideas behind Rani's work off the page and into shared experience.
